DOUBLE WAGE FOR OT FOR TRANSPORT WORKERS

In a claim petition relating to payment of wages for overtime work done by Tamilnadu state transport workers attached to Kovilpatti Depot who are now paid Rs.80/- and 200/- only depending upon the route they are going,The Labour Court,Tirunelveli has ordered double wages as overtime wages citing Sec 26 of Motor Transport Workers Act(MTW Act).The Labour Court has held that any settlement can not be repugnant to MTW Act in view of sec 37 of MWT Act.The Court also ordered 9% interest if not paid within one month of its order.CP Nos are 1/13,3/13,26/13,48/13,49-51/13
